Your Mac does not need this kind of "cleaning.")Īny kind of third-party uninstall app, whether it be CleanMyMac or something else, will never get every uninstall correct. apps like CleanMyMac should be avoided like the plague. (Or, for that matter, for anything at all. Your error is using CleanMyMac to attempt to uninstall software. The icon is malwarebytes icon which I have uninstalled through clean my mac, the icon is still there and can't get rid! TIA for any advice you may have on this subject! Struck out again! -)ĭo any of you have any ideas of what else I can do to get rid of this icon? It does have over 8 megs of memory attributed to it (or at least that what Activity Monitor tells me), and although that isn't a lot, this Mac is reaching 3 years old and it needs every bit of memory I can currently have on it. I even tried to use Spotlight to track down the files I found in teh Activity Monitor but it came up empty so did a search within Finder for that particular file on my Mac. I sure would like to get rid of this icon.and no, there aren't any options under it, when highlighted, that gives me any means of disabling it. I can Force Quit it all day, but the icon re-appears after every fresh start up. I tracked down that particular file again using Activity Monitor, but there isn't a way (that I know of) to DELETE that file from the Activity monitor. A force Quit box came up, I answered Yes, clicked on it, and the icon disappeared!Ĥ) I restarted my Mac, and the icon re-appeared. I clicked on it, highlighted it, and clicked on Quit. It's a third party icon, so this technique fails.Ģ) Went into System Preferences, Users and Groups, and did not see anything related to this program under Log In items to disable.ģ) I then went into Activity Monitor, Disk Activity, checked ON ALL Processes, and lo and behold, there was a file pertaining to Go to my PC.
Problem is, its icon still lives in my taskbar.Īfter 'extensive' searching the net, mostly Mac forums, this is what I have tried so far.all with no success.ġ) CTRL-dragging does not work.
When I returned home, I uninstalled Go to my PC because I did not need it anymore. Good morning, folks! I hope someone is still 'monitoring' this thread.I, too, have an icon on the right side of my taskbar that I cannot get rid of.Ībout a year ago, I had to leave my iMac behind becasue I took a temproary job 1100 miles away.so I installed Go to my PC so I could link up with the Mac with my McBook AIr if I needed some files, etc. Hello - Reading a thread on here very similar to what is described below! The icon is malwarebytes icon which I have uninstalled through clean my mac, the icon is still there and can't get rid!
